Resuscitating your sex life may require trying a lot of things – therapy, sex toys, male enhancement methods, and so on. Therapy, a.k.a. relationship counseling is always beneficial, while the use of sex toys can be uncomfortable for some. And then there’s male enhancement, which can be great if you find an option that works for you and your partner. The downside, however, is getting duped by a method that a) doesn’t work at all or b) works but can have horrifying consequences. To ensure you don’t get scammed, check out the top five penis enlargement schemes to avoid.

1. Chan’su and Love Stone

The culprit in these products is an alkaloid known as bufotenin, which is found in the skin of some species of toads. This aphrodisiac slash toad venom has also been used as a street drug, effectively sealing its reputation as a dangerous substance. By no means should you try this to enhance your package, unless you want to be another morbid statistic.

2. Frenulum Piercing

Certainly one of the most unconventional penis enhancement modes out there, frenulum piercing involves inserting barbells or rings on the underside of the shaft of the penis. Jacob’s Ladder is a special type of frenulum piercings, wherein the rings are arranged in a series beginning from below the head and extending to as far as the base of the shaft of the penis.

3. Phalloplasty

Phalloplasty is basically the fancy medical term for penis enlargement surgery. This procedure doesn’t really do anything to improve girth but it will definitely do something for your package length-wise. How, you ask? Well, to perform this type of genital reconstruction surgery, donor tissue is needed (usually from the abdomen, leg or forearm), which is then shaped and grafted into place. And yes, it is as painful and as horrible as it sounds and that’s not counting the six-month recovery period required after this operation.

4. Penis Pumps

Regardless of the ads and spam that you encounter about penile pumps, these devices are simply not safe to use. Failing to use a penis pump properly can cause ruptured blood vessels and the chances of that happening is very likely. Add to that the fact that using one can cause deformity, lymph blisters and penis discoloration and you’ll certainly think twice before purchasing one.

5. Spanish Fly or Cantharides

Usually given to farm animals as an aphrodisiac, Spanish Fly or cantharides can cause genital inflammation and priapism. The danger in using this substance lies in its narrow therapeutic index, which means that the difference between effectiveness and toxicity is almost negligible. Users should also be wary of other side effects such as painful urination and permanent kidney damage.

Bottomline? There are other male enhancement methods to try. Safer alternatives include male enhancement supplements, penis creams, and penis patches.
